Health and Safety First: InnuScience at Le Grand Rendez-vous de la CNESST 2026

InnuScience Meets Health and Safety Managers at Le Grand Rendez-vous de la CNESST 2026
    Dominic Coupal

On October 28, 2026, InnuScience exhibited at Le Grand Rendez-vous de la CNESST in Montréal, at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. Represented by Jean-Michel Corbeil and Patrice Breault, our team met with health and safety professionals to discuss a practical part of workplace prevention: reducing chemical risks in everyday cleaning.

Our focus was on helping organizations maintain effective cleaning while making informed choices about the products their teams handle and the way they use them.

Where does safer workplace cleaning begin?

Safer workplace cleaning begins with selecting an effective product for the task, assessing its hazards and controlling exposure during preparation and use.

For a health and safety manager, that means looking beyond the finished surface. How is the product dispensed? Does someone measure and pour a concentrate? What concentration is needed? What instructions and protective equipment apply?

A school, a commercial kitchen and a vehicle maintenance workshop face different cleaning challenges. Matching the product and method to the actual soil, surface and working conditions gives prevention teams a more useful starting point than a single cleaning routine applied everywhere.

Biotechnology expertise with prevention in mind

At InnuScience, we have been developing professional cleaning solutions with a focus on biotechnology since 1992.

Biotechnology helps us formulate solutions for applications such as daily cleaning, degreasing and odour control. Most of our products are not classified as hazardous under WHMIS when prepared at their recommended use dilution, and none of our products are flammable.

That distinction matters when reviewing a cleaning program: the concentrate and the solution used for cleaning can have different hazard classifications. Product selection and handling procedures should reflect the specific formulation and concentration involved.

Selected products also hold certifications such as UL ECOLOGO or Green Seal, providing independent assessment against the applicable certification criteria and supporting informed sustainable procurement.

    Limiting direct handling of concentrates

The way a cleaning product reaches the bucket, bottle or machine also deserves attention.

Our dilution systems dose concentrates for the user, reducing the need for manual measuring and pouring. They help teams prepare solutions at the recommended concentration and limit direct handling of concentrated products.

A different approach to sprays in vehicle maintenance

For mechanical workshops and vehicle maintenance operations, we also presented Spray-O2, a refillable spray system powered by compressed air rather than propellants such as butane or propane used in conventional brake cleaners. The system uses non-flammable cleaning formulas developed for workshop applications.

Helping cleaning teams put prevention into practice

Clear instructions and practical training help turn product choices into consistent working habits.

Our support for cleaning teams covers selecting the appropriate product, preparing the recommended dilution and applying it correctly. Protective equipment must remain appropriate to the product, the task and the workplace assessment, as CCOHS recommends.

"Every workplace is different. A school and a manufacturing plant don't have the same risks, but their health and safety managers ask us the same thing: how do we clean properly without putting our people at risk? Helping them answer that is why we're here." — Jean-Michel Corbeil, Senior Commercial Director, Québec

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth, and to the CNESST for bringing workplace prevention professionals together. We appreciated the opportunity to discuss how cleaning practices can support the people who keep Québec's workplaces running.
